Tools In Ancient Roman Times
Ancient Rome is without a doubt one of the most famous civilizations in the world having created attractions and inventions such as the architectural masterpiece known as the Coliseum. Rome can however take credit for tweaking the design of the mirror, making it possible for the lower classes to purchase and replace them at will. Within the Roman Empire, Cleanliness was of the utmost importance, which explains the need for the mirror in addition to public bathrooms throughout the cities.
Roman Axes
Axes are a tool that made it to the modern world while keeping their basic shape and size. Roman axes were made from iron and used for a number of different tasks. In the ancient age, the ability to gather wood was vital to survival, and this is precisely why the axe came in handy.
Ancient Roman Knives
Being made of bronze or iron, knives were tough and fit several different roles. These could be utilized in medical procedures or even in the cutting of bread. As a matter of course, these knives were extremely effective in battle. These knives were of sturdy design and were cable of being multi-purpose.
Ancient Roman Stylus
The stylus might appear to be a nail to some. When it came to the stylus however, is was used to inscribe text onto a wax tablet. This was a great way, at least at the time, to keep records of the day to day activities. Not all of the tablets were lost in time, in fact some were well preserve in various museums.
Hooks
Hooks were often multipurpose tools found in tackle boxes, homes, and even surgical environments. These hooks were of course made from metal, and with that being the case, they could do virtually anything.
Roman Firestarters
Though we live in a world full of modern appliances and technology, starting a fire still isn’t easy, and firestarters were essential in Rome. These are made from iron and they utilized flint on the bottom in order to start fires for various purposes.
Such tools were regularly used in Rome, though they aren’t the most complex. Rome was a complex empire that dealt with both military and scientific technologies. Rome was truly the epicenter of culture, and it certainly shows in the objects that they have left behind. You might actually get a chance to see some of these items, believe it or not.
